Ten Peaks in glorious countryside

Early spring is a super time for walking in Shropshire's lovely hill country. This break is based in Church Stretton but we do take transport to get us to all the best hills to climb.

This walking break takes in the ten highest peaks in the Shropshire Hills and is a strenuous walking event.

We scale  two or three peaks a day, generally in a linear walk. Shropshire's highest peak is 537 metres high, but that doesn't mean that the hills are an easy climb - they all present different challenges.

The programme is as follows.

Day One

Caer Caradoc (459 metres), Hope Bowdler Hill (426metres) Ragleth Hill (400 metres.) These are all part of the volcanic Stretton Hills and in between the hill climbing, there is lovely hill walking.

Day Two

The Longmynd - Ashlet (415 metres) Polebank (519 metres) Black Knoll (426 metres ) and Minton Hill(453 metres This is moorland and valley walking at its best, as in between climbing the hills, there are superb small secluded valleys to explore.

Day Three

The Clee Hills - we travel to scale Brown Clee (537 metres) and Titterstone Clee (534 metres) - the Eastern hills of Shropshire. Scarred by quarry and mine workings, these lofty hills provide a magnificent viewing area for the hills of South Wales, Mid wales and down to the Cardigan coast. A linear walk at heights above 350 metres all the way.

Day Four

The Stiperstones and lofty Corndon Hill - the jagged rocky Stiperstones ridge - 535 metres high - is the start point of a walk that ventures into Wales, across Stapely Moor, and onto Corndon Hill (510 metres)- what views you get from here.

Day Five

The mysterious hill fort of the Wrekin (410 metres)awaits us in the morning - a slab of rock, jutting out of the valley of the river Severn. In the afternoon we take in The Lawley (377 metres) and finally finish up over Haddon Hill (482 metres)and back to Church Stretton.
