Derbyshire's Superb Country Houses
Derbyshire has some superb country houses and this break visits some of the best. They are all different too, and this holiday visits four of them after we have spent the morning strolling around the beautiful Derbyshire Dales.
Meeting new friends is a vital part of our Strollers programme. Your guides will make sure we all gel together as a group. They are truly knowledgeable about the countryside, it’s history and social culture. We will tell you stories - myths and actual, about the culture and geography of these dales.
The holiday is four nights and three days, and we stay at The Charles Cotton Hotel in Hartington, between Buxton and Ashbourne. We have a no single supplement policy, and we can be very flexible - If you can only arrange a couple of nights we can fit you in.
We are a very friendly walking company - our aim is to show off The Derbyshire Dales and to make sure you have a great time when you are here.
The Country Houses
Chatsworth - the jewel in the dales crown, seat of the Duke's of Devonshire. Superb house. lovely gardens and extensive grounds which we walk.
Haddon Hall - Chatsworths near neighbour but oh so different, smaller but none the less charming
Eyam Hall - the Plague village, its hall and museum
Sudbury Hall - and the Museum of Childhood.
Kedleston Hall - a film set hall, with extensive grounds and gardens
Tissington Hall - charming village, lovely owner lived in hall
