Shropshire walking with Secret Hills Walking What You Need To Know About The Walking Breaks GRADES OF WALKINGWalking in these secret hills is moderate, with some climbing, but we wont rush this. We climb to 535 metres at maximum. Talking is as important as walking. 8 to 10 miles a day. Plenty of breaks. YOUR FITNESSIf you walk in the country regularly, ignore the next paragraph - you are fit enough. We take country walks – not speed or endurance walks. We progress at a steady, consistent pace – we wont leave the back markers behind. Sometimes talking is as important as walking. There will be some steep ascents and descents but we wont rush these. We take plenty of breaks, as well as stopping whenever there is something to see that interests you. INSURANCEWe strongly recommend that you are covered with Personal Accident Insurance. We cover for Public Liability. Of course we will take every precaution that you walk safely and with the correct equipment, footwear and clothing. We reserve the right to stop you walking with us if we consider your equipment might endanger you. WEATHER IN THESE SECRET HILLSShropshire has a mild climate and the winters are not harsh. We cannot know what the weather will do, but we have some simple rules. We will walk in rain unless it is torrential and unlikely to break for the day. Sometimes the mornings may be horrible and we will arrange a shorter walk in the afternoon and visa versa. In all decisions relative to the weather the groups views will be taken. However, the guides will reserve the right to determine the routes and continuance of the walks if prevailing weather conditions are too severe. YOUR WALK LEADERSOur guides don't just lead - they are there for you at all times - we have dinner with you in the evening. They have a wide knowledge of the country we walk in. Their role is to ensure that you have a super holiday. TRANSPORTWe use mini bus transport to take us to the beginning of our walks, or pick us up at the end. EQUIPMENT YOU NEEDWalking boots obligatory. Wet weather gear, cold weather gear, a back pack, flask, water bottle, warm fleece. Walking stick or pole preferable. HOW THE DAY IS ORGANISEDGenerally a 9.30 start. Packed or pub lunch. Walks will finish at approx 5.00pm, dependent on where we walk. Dinner is at eight, with a short tomorrows programme session before dinner. SINGLESWe have a singles special – see our Social Country Walking for Singles page, but all our breaks cater for singles. You may be asked to pay a single room supplement, but 50% of our country walking customers are unattached.
