Shropshire's Long Distance Walking Trails

THE SHROPSHIRE WANDERER

Secret Hills Walking organise a long distance linear walking programme, a one week long continuous walking trail. We call it  "The Shropshire Wanderer", because it follows good paths but away from the main centres. Paths walked by locals.

On The Shropshire Wanderer, we take in countryside that is rarely walked except by locals, skirting the edges of the main centres, yet on good paths. The start is at Church Stretton and finish at Ludlow. Walks are between 10 and 11 miles a day. Routes will be forwarded with your joining instructions, and will vary slightly, holiday to holiday, based upon where we are accommodated.

We stay at two centres - Church Stretton for the first four nights and Bishops Castle for the last three nights. Your baggage is transported between the two centres.

Although there are good climbs, all the walking is moderate and on good paths.

How Your Day Is Organised

Walking from 9.30am to 5.30pm, with lunch stop, either at a local pub or packed.

Equipment

Full wet weather gear, walking boots obligatory. Full backpack needed.

Accommodation

 We use the best hotels or guest houses available. You stay bed, breakfast and evening dinner for seven nights.

Itinery

We meet at 1.00pm on Saturdays (details will be forwarded) and the holiday ends after breakfast the following Saturday.

THE SHROPSHIRE WAY/WILD EDRICS TRAIL

The Shropshire Way  covers the most beautiful parts of South Shropshire, form south of Shrewsbury to Ludlow. We walk from two centres - Church Stretton and Bishops Castle, and you are transported to the walk start and finish, where needed. Wild Edric Way follows the same paths as the Shropshire Way, and we combine the two trails into one.
