"Hotel was excellent. Room was comfortable and the standard of food exceptional. New Year' Eve entertainment was just right & created a very lively party atmosphere. The walks were superb and enhanced by wall to wall blue skies and sunshine. Tom & Jill provided interesting & varied walks along with informative snippets of information en route without information overload! Jill & Tom as ever went the extra mile to ensure the trip was enjoyable for everybody. It is obvious they care about their clients. A thoroughly enjoyable trip at Newby Bridge & I'd very happy to return there next New Year. It was a nice size group of 10 which was much more manageable & easier to get to know people. Also Jill & Tom definitely know how to arrange a good party!! "

"Lakes New year 2016/2017 The two guides Jill and Tom did a fantastic job. They explained the plan for each day and gave options. They were excellent company and looked after everyone in the group very well. Excellent organisation so that I didn't have to worry about anything. Keep up the good work. As someone who has done a lot of group travel over the years, it is a challenge to get the balance of these trips right. But you seem to work your magic to make these trips a really enjoyable experience for everyone. "

"- Cotswolds New year 2016/17 - It was my first time with Secret Hills and indeed my first organised walking holiday. Being on my own I was initially apprehensive but I need not have worried as Alan and the other team members made everyone welcome. I really enjoyed meeting friendly like-minded people and the walks were good. Pity about the weather! I will certainly be joining another holiday, hopefully before too long. Well done Secret Hills! "

What Others Said...

Jane Binyon Nepal October 2014 The Ama Dablan basecamp trek was an excellent 'taster' of what Nepal has to offer - a wonderfully heady mix, from the hustle and bustle of KMD, then following the famous route of past and present mountaineers heading for their conquest of Everest, or its Basecamp, before taking to the quieter, arguably more beautiful surroundings of Ama Dablam basecamp and on from there to even more secluded sherpa villages and buddhist monasteries that are still unspoilt by tourism.   A real insight into such a fascinating culture, wonderful mountain scenery, on a route that was sufficiently challenging to provide a great sense of satisfaction at the end, with lodge accomodation run by local families that gave a glimpse of traditional Sherpa lifestyle that continues  in the region, and provided us with excellent food throughout.   Having Jill lead the trek, alongside a Nepalese guide, was a real bonus. For someone who doesn't know her left from her right (and she doesn't!), Jill is unbelievably capable, inspiring, encouraging, caring, fun and lovable! She worked so hard to give each of us as many options as possible throughout the trip, so we could each get out of it the things we had come in search of. At the same time, making the holiday both fun and exciting. Jill encouraged us to immerse ourselves in the magic that is Nepal, even teaching us enough of the language to engage with our fellow guides and the locals.  She has the rare talent of being both a leader and a great travelling companion at the same time. I can't wait for her to organise another trek in the Himalaya.
