Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales never fail to impress the walker – fabulous upland scenery, well maintained paths. Our solos guided walking holiday is based in Clapham renowned for its beauty, rural charm and great walking from the village and surrounding valley.

Clapham is a small village, in the Pennines, at the southern base of the Yorkshire Dales. It’s a pretty place, surrounded by limestone dry-stone walls, & with a stream running right through the middle of the village.

The  Yorkshire Dales are famous for their wonderful scenery.  Deep valleys, known as dales, with roads meandering between drystone walls and a patchwork of hay meadows and field barns.  Up above is heather moorland and distinctive hills, such as the much loved Three Peaks. There is the Settle to Carlisle railway which cuts through the National Park using tunnels and viaducts, including the iconic Ribblehead.

Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales, an outstanding place to explore for many years – from the Victorians at the end of the 19th century through to the Tour de France in 2014.
