As I begin to sit and write this I’m already getting excited about returning to the beautiful island of Gran Canaria on the 1st March 2025 to lead another fantastic holiday and I am writing to you to make you aware of this winter walking holiday , and yes, definitely trying to tempt you!
I have been visiting and leading guided walking holidays to Gran Canaria for 9 years now and every visit still manages to wow me with its breathtaking views, it’s beautiful Spanish rural villages, it’s flora, it’s geology of a volcanic island and it’s scented trails of herbs and fruits that remain with you forever and it’s glorious sunshine year round.
Our holidays take place beginning of March to ensure we see and smell the magnificent almond blossoms. The valley’s and hillsides turn pink and white with the abundance of all the blossoms making it wonderful to walk amongst them. No trip to Gran Canaria is complete without also tasting the almond cakes from the village bakery. An absolute must.
Our four star Parador Hotel is located right in the heart of the island, high up in the hills and mountains and commands an outstanding view which literally takes your breath away. Our bedrooms open out to the views and pre dinner drinks are taken on the Hotel terrace whilst we watch the most magnificent sunsets. The island of Tenerife and Mt.Teide can be seen from our Hotel.
Should you also wish to, you can enjoy the hotel spa pool with the same incredible views.
Dinner is a la Carte, three courses and offers a delicious choice of Gran Canaria cuisine as well as other European dishes.
Gran Canaria is a walkers paradise, it was a vast network of paths and trails and our prime hotel location enables us to enjoy the best of the islands walking without undertaking long bus journeys on very bendy roads. Most other Companies base their holidays on the Coast, not us, we are located right in the heart of the island and fabulous walking.
Our five walks give you the opportunity to see the diversity and beauty of the island. We walk through forests, we go to the top of the island, we walk on volcanic lava fields, we visit rural villages, cave houses, geological landmarks and all under beautiful Spanish sunshine and big blue skies.
As winter sets in it’s no wonder birds migrate South in search of better weather and blue skies which is why our ‘ winter sunny walking’ programme is so popular as we also crave some warmth on our body to break the UK winter.
Gran Canaria really will impress and wow you, it’s got everything wrapped up under one island. Hopefully you will allow me to show you this beautiful island in March
