This was my second trip with Secret Hills. The organization was first class and I like joining a small group where there is flexibility to change plans and find better weather for each days walking itinerary. Secret Hills is a the company to book with if you want to experience great walks and good company! Trips are organized seamlessly meaning you can enjoy your holiday, as everything and everyone’s needs are taken care of. Attention to detail is key in finding the best walks and the best restaurants to enjoy. Taking small group means there is flexibility to make changes due to weather conditions if necessary. The hotel was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. The food in all the different restaurants was delicious and not very expensive. Great walking companions. The leaders and guides were extremely nice and very concerned about our welfare. I really appreciated not being too rushed and having time to look around. Everything was beautifully organised. Alan was extremely generous and helpful when we had to stay longer because the airport was closed for two days due to bad weather. Madeira is a spectacular, beautiful island. This Secret Hills tours were so well organised that you could fully enjoy the island and never worry about a thing. Lovely Hotel with friendly staff. The meals were good and some courses were exceptional. A very good buffet breakfast. Guided walking was excellent. I was happy with the organising. The hotel was very good. Great to be in the centre of the city, Lovely rooms, the food was excellent and my gluten intolerance was well accommodated. The guides, Jill and Pete, are highly experienced and were patient and keen to pass on tips for developing your walking style. This is an amazing experience and will alter your perception of what Tenerife has to offer. The landscapes you will be introduced to are varied from lush vegetation to desert. It is important to understand that this trip requires a good level of fitness, some people are using this as training for Nepal! You will potentially take on 900 metres of ascent. Depending on your previous experience you may be pushed outside of your comfort zone but always safely. The guides rate this as the tough end of the Canary Island holidays. Tenerife, February 2026
This holiday was fabulous. The hotel was great, rooms were lovely and really clean, food was lovely and there were great choices for evening meal and breakfast, the staff were all really friendly and it’s in the wonderful location of La Laguna, a great place to wonder around and plenty of good shops and places to eat!! Did a great cultural tour of it on our day off! The walking was excellent as always with stunning views along the rugged coastline and of course the impressive Mount Teide. Jill and Pete led this holiday amazingly as usual with a great variety of walks and information, they never let us down!!

The hotel is in a very nice location in a most wonderful historical city. Nice selection of dishes in the menu, which was different every night. This is the 4th holiday I had with Jill and Pete. As usual we had excellent walking with a lot of fun. On one of the walks there was an unexpected path closure – Jill and Pete took the brave and correct decision to turn back, which I (and everyone in the group) fully agreed with and supported. As usual, everything worked perfectly. A high proportion of customers in the group including myself are (often many times) returning customers, which says a lot about the quality of holidays offered by Secret Hills.

The hotel was very good in a central location with comfortable rooms The food was very good and to a high standard every evening. There was an extensive buffet breakfast in the morning. The walks were extensive and well thought out. Each walk was varied and allowed us to see a less visited part of the island. Jill and Pete were as ever very good in planning the walks, explaining the day ahead, keeping us moving at a suitable pace with lots of stops for rests, photo’s and drinks. Hotel was amazing with all the facilities, evening meals were slow in coming and at different times, the group were eating different meals e.g starters whi lst some of us were on our mains but overall the food choice was absolutely delicious and plenty of it. The Hotel Marina was well situated. Food on offer was plentiful and very good. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the room I had in the annex was more than satisfactory for a walking holiday I very much enjoyed the walking experience. The walks were excellent. I was impressed with the professional and knowledgable leaders, Jill and Pete who provided good information about the history of the area, and also their ability to assess the capabilities of group members, and encourage individuals to participate as appropriate in specific walks. The organisation of walks were good. Briefing sessions on each walk the night before; items required to bring for the walk; weather forecast information. The good taxi/bus transfers to specfic walks. I would have no hesitation in reserving another holiday with Secret Hills Walking. Probably in areas of Spain or the Balearic Islands. Anne

Excellent- loved the Victoria House, the staff were friendly, welcoming, the accommodation clean and comfortable and the food was delicious, so much choice. I thoroughly enjoyed the walking experience, the knowledge of the guides helped with building confidence but also they were able to make the walks really informative.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a super week last week. You’ve definitely sold me your holidays and I will be booking on some more at some point.
