Hotel and Meals
In Port Soller we use the four star Hotel Marina Soller, right on the bay front. All the facilities you need, comfortable rooms, in the main hotel , mountain views, good food. Swimming pool, leisure facilities.
Breakfast is taken in the hotel’s dining room or on the outside terrace, by the bay. Plenty of choice, buffet style. Dinner is buffet style with superb choices that change each day. The starters are filling, and main courses come with vegetables grown on the island. We generally eat inside during the time we are on the island, but if it’s a warm evening then outside eating is highly recommended. We stay half board, and dinner is always a feature of our holidays – time to socialize, with good food and wine to swap stories about the day’s walking.
The hotel is, located just across from the beach and is fully air conditioned. You can walk across the promenade to the beach and swim.
No sole occupancy supplement – the price shown on the website is the price you pay
In the evening, relax outside by the bay, with a lovely atmosphere and inexpensive drinks. If it gets chilly – wrap your self in the blankets kindly provided by the hotel. Just chat, listen to a little music and watch the world go by.
Easter in Mallorca – customs and traditions
The Holy Week, or Semana Santa as the Spanish call it, is the most important and deeply significant religious celebration in Spain. It is known for its colourful processions, distinct costumes, and religious floats.
From gathering the family to make rubiols, empanadas and crespells (typical pastries and cookies), to processing in Palma and Sóller with hoods and robes.
Easter in Mallorca is an exciting time to visit and the island comes alive with festivities throughout the Holy Week.
Itinerary
Your Itinerary
We walk five days with one rest day in the middle.
A typical walking day
We leave at 9.15am, travel by minibus or local taxi to walk start – generally each walk lasts for five and half hours – maybe with a coffee or orange juice stop in the country, lunch is normally packed from the local supermarket – lovely baguettes. Walking is moderate with some steeper sections, but we won’t rush these. The Mallorcan country side is superb – high mountains all around but lovely river valleys, a coast line that enchants and splendid villages to pass through. It is always a pleasure to look at the lovely wild flowers and village floral displays.
Walking is varied and some of the routes are shown here.
- Cala Tuent – classic varied walk to idyllic Cala Tuent cove, From Ses Barques viewing point through lemon groves to the cliff edeg – then walk to Cala Tuent for the journey back by boat- sometimes we reverse the route and take the boat at the beginning of the day.
- Deia – Soller – on the GR221 national route. Visit Deia Bay to start with, then climb to the Gr221 route to Can Bleda, a couple of choices then- either down to Port Soller lighthouse or a shorter trek back to Repic beach and your hotel.
- Cuber – L’Ofre – Es Barranc – Soller Along side the reservoir, then climbing the majestic L’Ofre peak, before descending the Barranc on the ancient Pilgrims Way to Biniraix then into Soller Town centre.
- Ses Barques viewing point – Fornalutz- Soller- hotel- leaving the lovely viewpoint and taking in the idyllic village of Fornalutz and Soller Old Town
- Hotel – Coll de Pedregat – Soller town- hotel
We transport you to the walk start each day and also to the various historical sites we visit. The travel through these magnificent mountains is a big feature of our holiday.
Grades and Difficulty
On each Mallorca holiday, the grade of walking is moderate .
On the moderate walks – 8/9miles – we ascend and descend at least once per day – up to 300 metres but generally over an hour and a half. Pace is critical – we don’t rush, there’s too much to see, but we do stride out where it is possible. Underfoot conditions in Mallorca can be stony – it is limestone country after all – and we take care on these sections.
Good walking boots or shoes are obligatory. You may find that walking poles will aid your enjoyment of this land.
The trip requires a reasonable amount of fitness, ideally with previous hill walking experience.
The Climate
Is typically Mediterranean, mild winters and hot summers – too hot for walking. We organize our holidays in March/April- lovely spring flowers and a green paradise, and October, when it is still lovely and warm, ideal for walking.
Exclusions
Although our leaders are well trained and experienced in dealing with different capabilities of our walking clients, if they have any concerns about any clients ability or suitability to undertake safely any walking activity we plan or they feel that participation of an individual may affect the groups safety and cohesion, then they have full permission to exclude that client from an activity.
They will try at all times to provide an alternative suggested activity, though this may involve the client in additional local cost.
We rarely have to enforce this above recommendation, but it is a sensible and necessary protection for the individual client, the group and
Flights and Transfers
You buy your own flights on this holiday
Whatever flight you purchase- and from which UK regional airport- we will transfer you from the airport and to the hotel – and return one week later as part of the holiday price you pay
Transfers
As you have the choice of airports and flight times, where this is practical, we arrange transfers that accumulate clients together for onward transfer to hotels/and return to the airport. This can mean small delays whilst we accumulate clients together for group transfers- un avoidable- and this policy impacts favourably on the cost of your holiday.
Should you want an individual transfer- to avoid any waiting time – then there will be an additional charge for this
Great Reasons to Join us
There are other walking holiday companies that cover Europe but we believe we offer the best value for many reasons….
- We specialise in organising guided walking holidays for solos and singles.
- We are a small friendly company
- We have a loyal customer base who return again and again (so we must be doing something right) – read our testimonials page on the website
- We offer a lot of flexibility – you can stay extra nights which we are happy to organise for you. We are also very flexible on the walks we provide, adapting to suit walkers and weather conditions
- Our walk leading is second to none. Unlike some other large Walking Companies, we use LOCAL leaders who live in the area and who love their surroundings. They have expert knowledge of everything you need to know to make an area come alive.
- You are safe in our hands – our guides are experts, fully qualified in first aid. Also, because of their local knowledge of the hills, they can respond to any situation that might for example demand cutting short a route. They don’t need to consult maps – they know the hills intimately.
- Our leaders are all easy-going, genuinely sociable people who want to ensure that you have the best time you can with the rest of the group. They make the weekend fun by engaging with all members of a group, and ensuring that everyone feels part of the group experience.
- We give great value for money. Because we recognise that lots of walkers holiday on their own, we have negotiated no single supplement deals with all our hotels to ensure the best possible deal.
- We always use good hotels, selected and constantly reviewed.
- We have smaller groups than some of the larger walking companies because we believe the social experience is much better in a smaller group. People can talk to everyone, especially at dinner where you can all sit at one table in a small group. Our numbers vary from holiday to holiday but an average group size would be 8-12.

Location
- Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana mountains are a great walking experience. On this holiday island renowned for it’s sun, sand and sangria, there is an area of peace and tranquillity, where the walking is superb. 90 km long and 15 km wide, the Tramuntana range gives a vast range of walking possibilities. The coast line is also very rugged, and this affords us tremendous sea views as well as mountain scenery. The limestone allows deep gorges and waterfalls, yet there are pine forests as well.
- Mallorca’s walking is through an undiscovered landscape, a rural idyll, a land of orange and lemon groves, where twisted and knarled olive trees are on every corner. Mallorca offers a mountain landscape that sweeps down to the sea, offering us lovely coastal walking as well as the high tops. Its pretty, unspoilt villages compliment the walking we do, and its deep valleys are magnificent to walk up and down.
